Maria Teresa LavazzaMrs. Lavazza, living in Turin. She is part of the Lavazza Family, the family who owns Luigi Lavazza S.p.A. Her son Giuseppe and her daughter Francesca – with their cousins Alberto, Marco, Antonella and Manuela – are board members of the Italian Company that produces the well-known Lavazza coffee, that is appreciated all over the world.
Mrs. Maria Teresa Lavazza has been committed in social and humanitarian activities for many years. Since 1997, she has been president of ADISCO Piemonte, an Italian association that promotes and supports medical research.

She started playing bridge at 30 and immediately got into it. Since 1980 she has been captaining the Lavazza team, one of the most winning Bridge teams in the world. In the team she cultivated young talents, turning them into the top bridge players they are now. Giorgio Duboin, Norberto Bocchi, Agustin Madala and many others due their success to Maria Teresa’s disinterested love for Bridge.

She has been captaining with tremendous success the Italian National Team named as “second Blue Team”.

“The more I win, the more I want to win” uses to say Maria Teresa. She reports that the success of her team is due to the high level of the professionals playing into it, but also by the friendship and respect between all the members of the crew.

In 2012 she was named “Person of the Year” by the IBPA (International Bridge Press Association).
